I’m interested in the moment when colour, form and sound stop behaving as separate things.
My practice begins with an idea rather than a particular medium, allowing sound, image and technology to develop through shared processes. I build systems that create space for emergence, variation and unexpected outcomes, accepting that giving up some control can lead the work somewhere more interesting.
Concept first
Start with the idea. Choose a medium which serves the idea, even when that means working outside of familiar methods.
Emergence
Sound doesn’t accompany image, and image doesn’t decorate music.
Stand back
Designing the rules and relationships is the compositional act. Create the system and then stand back.
Embrace chaos
Embrace instability, variation and unexpected behaviour. Reflect reality through randomness and mistakes.
